Coffeeville One Community

Updated: Oct 26, 2018

One Beginning of the Coffeeville Renaissance

When a small group of concerned citizens meet in February, 2015, to discuss the generation of growth in the community of Coffeeville, little did they know that they too, would grow into a subsidiary organization under the umbrella of the Clarke County Development Foundation (CCDF). The CCDF’s mission is to facilitate community and economic development so as to improve the quality of life for residents of Clarke County, Alabama.

When “Coffeeville One Community”, a committee of organized citizens with representation from across the spectrum of race, religion, and socioeconomic backgrounds, dedicated to improving community development met the first time. They decided to host a celebration of pride and support for the residents of Coffeeville. In 2016, the first Annual Coffeeville Day took place on the Town Hall lawn. Churches, individuals, vendors, and local merchants donated craft items and prizes for children’s activities while the committee supervised booths, a volleyball tournament, raffles, Bingo and the bar-b-que competition. Vendors selling food and merchandise also gathered for the event which was so well received, a second annual Coffeeville Day was planned.

The 2017 Coffeeville Day was extremely well-attended despite wind and rain that shortened the event. Coffeeville One Community members were wet, but their spirits were not dampened. They decided to start fund-raisers which included two Coffeeville Trade Days and their first “Annual Christmas Gala” honoring First Responders. These successful events enabled Coffeeville One Community to donate money to the Head Start Program. Ongoing meetings with the Coffeeville city council have resulted in the Head Start facility being brought up to safety code standards, as well as getting transportation issues ameliorated.

The mission of Coffeeville One Community is to promote and acquire resources through economic development strategies that will enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Coffeeville and the surrounding communities.

The Clarke County Development Foundation (CCDF) has provided administrative support and accounting to Coffeeville One Community. CCDF will maintain the records for 501c3 (non-profit), file annual tax reports to the IRS, and provide an annual audit for Coffeeville One Community. The new status will allow Coffeeville One Community to apply for available grants and donations that are in support of their mission.
